I love painting and also music. I have painted from an early age and inherited a lot from family. I also owe them a lot. I guess the classroom is always one of life.
I enjoy this blogging too, as it allows me to stay in touch with hearts all across the world. What a close net world we live in. I love being able to communicate through the hand written form- I think there’s more meaning in the word but a picture paints a thousand words. So the cliche goes.
When I do paint a picture I really have to think, plan and have a direction where I want the piece to go, otherwise I’d end up with grey goop or something that just isn’t right.
Which section to paint first, what values to use, where’s the sun or light coming from and the list goes on and on. What I aim for is for a distinct look and a brightness to bring a painting alive- not dull. I could paint dull and muted colors and have done so in the past but no-one seems to get excited by muted colors (maybe I will try again in the future) I know of many painters who have mastered the muted color mix. This are still masterpieces, such as the two below.
Examples of incredible artistry of their subject is apparent in what they do to the eye. I find they draw you into the scene and time no longer matters. That’s one of the goals of art. So much magic to think about for me and for you I hope to enjoy.
